It seems as if every time I learn something, I get new questions I wanna know the answer to. The world is so huge and full of things I’ve never seen before, I wanna know about all of it! - Hero

(This has been done for a while, it took me a while to get all this written. Zeph is a busy person.)
Say hello to Hero! The main character of the Game Project, which you’ve been introduced a tiny bit to. His name IS actually Hero. Because he was unnamed for a long time and I just referred to him as “The hero” “Hero-boy” or just “Hero”. It grew stuck.
Also, please note that to continuous evolvement on the game project, the history of Hero during the time of the game will only be explaining valid key points that there are little to no chance will change.

Hero was born into a noble family (the Defant family) on the red/bronze continent, as the younger brother. The Defants were caught in the many private wars between the noble families of the red continent, and ended out in serious trouble, because an otherwise neutral family made alliance with the current enemy. With no way of winning, Hero’s family decided that they would at least send away the two prominent sons – Damien and Hero – to neutral families where they should be raised to pose as little threat to anyone with as little knowledge about anything in society, whatsoever.
Hero was send with his private guardian servant, and the same servant’s son – Lios – Whom he started playing with soon after introduction. When he arrived at his foster family he found his new home in a single room, and the longest distance from this room he got to get to, was to the toilet and the dojo for staying healthy. His guardian servant died soon after his arrival and Lios took over.
All Hero’s teaching and raising was done by Lios. He barely ever had contact with the foster family he was in, and most usually it was only in special occasion he got to see them. So about 2-5 times a year.
Hero grew unnaturally dependant on Lios, when the man not only was his only company, but also had the tedious task of both raising him and thinking for Hero.
After a while in isolation, Hero started wondering about the location of his brother, whom he didn’t really know anything of. And after long times of wondering and begging Lios for info, he, or so he thought, started writing letters with his brother, thus making an actual contact outside the 4 walls around him. In reality, he wasn’t writing with his brother at all. He was writing with Lios, whom hadn’t had it in his heart to tell him that Damien had never arrived at his foster family. Hero was oblivious about this, however.
When Hero turned 19, the nobility that’d been war faring Hero’s family learned of his existence and wanted to make sure that Hero didn’t end up rising some sort of army to avenge his family. Lios, however, heard of this and in time managed to flee with Hero.
Arriving out in the world outside his room was quite a shock for Hero, and though he was intimidated by the size of the reality at first, he quickly was engulfed by a need to learn and discover about this wide world, and started a quest of finding the truth of the world he never knew – with Lios at his side of course.

During his travels around the world, Hero met a lot of new people and made both friends and enemies in all shapes and sizes, and got involved with many different conflicts as he learned that even the conflict that cost his family their lives, was actually such a small problem in a world of so many problems.
He also starts learning of a world outside the “world” that even the otherwise unsheltered people live in. He discovers the problem with the demon seeds, the existence of the supernatural, societies hidden away (such as Garlia or Atlantia) and mysterious technology from ancient times with unknown history.
During his search for an ultimate truth he also ran into his brother Damien (Who had changed his name to Morchel) and learns that the brother he thought he’d written to all these years hadn’t been his brother at all. A thing that revolted his world both in past and present, quite a lot. After this point, many would see that hero looses a bit of his innocence and matures.

Hero as a person
Hero is a kind young man, who’s forced isolation has affected his person a lot. He’s never learned a lot of basic knowledge that people would automaticly assume him to know. As a result, his person swings like a pendulum between the mind of an adult and the mind as a child. Most usually people view him as a child.
Despite this, Hero is actually increadably smart. However, lacking a lot of basic knowledge makes him seem like the directly opposide. To quote, some people “can’t decide wether he’s a retarded genious or a genious retard”. A good way to test this would be to give him a question about the world, and then a difficult math question, or something that hands him all the info in the question but requires plenty of brainpower to solve. For everything else, however, Hero is dependant on Lios to help him because he’s never been allowed to think himself before – Lios had to do it for him.
Hero is kindhearted and loving, and likes to see the people around him smile. He’s usually gentle and careful, but gets excited rather easily, over the most obscure things. When he’s excited, he usually do a lot of strange things, that only make him seem more quirky than he already is. Though he doesn’t fanboy over it anymore, then the sky is one of the things that fascinates him a lot, and when he goes to think by himself, he usually go to a place with a great view of the sky and possibly the landscape (especially when close to the coast)
Hero has his serious moments though. The first of the kind are in very serious situations, especially dangerous. He’ll be thoughtful of what he does and try to figure out the best actions for him and his friends to make. The second, are when he goes to simply be alone (this especially happens a lot after meeting Morchel). In these moments, he’ll simply retract himself to somewhere away and usually look at the sky while thinking to himself. If disturbed during these times, he acts a lot like a quiet adult, and usually have very deep thoughts about everything. When he’s depressed, he automaticly retracts to sit on his own, but it’s not always the reason. Most usually however, he prefers to stay around his friends.
Hero is kind and loving, however, even Hero has his darker sides of his personality. He has a horrible sense of vengence when people hurt his friends (fun how it’s less so about himself). In these moments, he can grow directly violent. More likely, he’ll tackle the problem head on himself.
Later in the game, once the facts about romance (and in Hero’s case, Mio) and the like starts to settle in, he grows a semi-violent and rather horrible feeling of jealousy. He learns to deal with this along the way.
Amazingly, he tries to keep these sides of himself frmo the others, because he knows they wont like it. So when Hero tackles these things, he usually tries to do it behind the back of the others, and keep it to himself so they wont worry. He’s especially persistant to keep it from Lios, because Hero knows Lios will deal with it rather harshly. And he knows Lios knows him better than most, an probably has an idea of this more violent side of Hero. He also grows more open about this side of him as he goes along, and learns to grow a balance in it.
Most usually however, Hero acts like an innocent child with occassional moments of genious. Along the storyline, Hero grows up more and more, so he in the end is more of an innocent adult rather than a child.

Hero and combat
Hero is probably the most customisable on the entire team (being the main character). Hero’s standard combination focuses on speed, intelligence and precision, with a light, bladed weapon class, a rapier most likely. However, in the game, he is able to learn just about any weapon class, with exception from the obvious weaponclasses he ain’t build for.
Hero holds an almost endless customization possibility. He can make combos with all of the people on the hero team, and access most all the single-man combos available.
Hero, however, posses no magic abilities.
When using Hero for non-game related purposes, Hero’s abilities will be shaped after a videogame. Summoning big stuff from a little bag, quick weapon change, and a big variety of weapons to use. Still he has no magic abilities.

Of Hero and the team
No doubt, the person binding together the team is Hero. Each and every one of them has joined the group through Hero. And Hero is friends with each and every one of them, despite their internal fights.
In the game, you can accuire affection scores with them all, as well as minigames with the most of them. The amount of combos, the functionality of the teams you combine and such, will depend a lot on the state of your affection scores. High affection scores also gives bonusses to the characters.

Of Hero and Morchel
“Morchel” is the name that Hero’s brother Damien took, after joining a cult. Damien hadn’t arrived at his right destination when he and Hero were send out, and as a result, he went through some things that fucked him up pretty badly. In the end he joined a smaller cult which he devotes himself to entirely.
When Hero meets Morchel, he is completely convinced that they have been in contact through letters, however it is revealed that they have, in fact, not. (I think I mentioned it earlier on the ref) And that the person Hero had imagined Damien to be was a total lie. The real Damien, Morchel, showed out to be a direct opposite of what Hero had imagined.
Even worse, Morchel started hating Hero almost from first sight. And the fact that Hero did not agree with Morchel’s methods nor his blind belief in the cult, made a humongous distance between them.
Morchel instantly considered Hero a traitor and an enemy. To his belief, to their family, just about everything. In fact, Morchel seemed to hate everything Hero was and stood for. And Morchel’s way of dealing with such, is to kill them. Thus Hero suddenly became highranking on his list of people to anihilate.
The truth shocked Hero beyond belief, especially because the letters with Damien had been his only contact with the world outside his isolation. Everything written had been a lie. And Lios had lied to him. And not only that, but the only person left (that he knew of) from his family, hated him to the extent where he in every fiber of his body, wanted to kill Hero.
Unable to deal with the horrible person his brother had become before his eyes, the fact he hated him and more, threw Hero into a different way to deal with this problem. He refused to face it, and instead denied having a brother at all.
Hero’s feelings about Morchel are mixed. On one side, he still loves his brother deeply, and on the other side, the side Hero refuses stubbornly having at all (also to himself), Hero hates the person his brother showed out to be. The subject of Morchel is to hero one big chaos of affection and hatred at the same time in no logical way, and overall, Hero is scared shitless by this factum – and of Morchel himself.
Hero’s denial about Morchel sticks deeper and deeper as time goes, and Hero can grow direcly fanatic and violent about the fact, resulting in some shocking scenes.
The subject of Morchel also created a huge distance between him and Lios for quite a while. And the fact Lios was still trying to help Hero deal with this problem only made it all worse. It was first at the point where Morchel almost killed Lios, that Hero dropped the feud between them and they could continue their lives in harmony with each other. At this point though, Hero and Lios had both gone through some things, so that combined with the whole ordeal had changed the relationship between them forever.
Hero is first able to deal with the problem the day Morchel dies and his soul is shredded to pieces. After this point, Morchel is a very touchy, sad subject to Hero, and the fact he and Morchel never managed to make up and hated each other to the end, still haunts Hero emotionally.

Hero’s question
Each character on the hero team will have their own “question” they represent. These questions are (usually philosophical) questions that the human (or like) have been wondering about for eternities and mostly not found a question to. Hero’s question, however, includes all the other questions (indirectly?): What is truth?
Hero quests for truth, an absolute truth about everything. And on the way, he wants to learn as much as possible about everything in that big world that had been denied him for so long – the world outside the walls, and rather than being on a cruise for revenge he devotes himself to knowledge in an aducational journey of discovering and learning the truths, the untruths, the problems, undefined, unknown and undefined.

Trivia
- Hero is the most flexible character in the game. You can teach him 90% of the weapon classes, teach him almost all crafting skills and has the biggest election of clothing you can costumize him in.
- Hero has a love score with just about anyone in the game project. Seriously, he even got one with Bruskyj. I’m not kidding.
- Hero is bisexual. I doubt he’s aware of this himself.
- Hero speaks latin fluently, due to Lios’ education. He’s also an expert in math and certain kinds of art.
- The family symbol of Hero’s family line/clan is a shield. In his original concepts, he wore a neckpiece creepily reminiscent to D’tanion’s….
- Hero’s clan name is “Defant”. Thus his full name is actually Hero Defant. As a second son, he doesn’t have a second name. A title for second son is used instead. But seeming Hero’s clan is no longer in power, his title, and thus his middle name, seized to exist.
- Hero’s themesong AND voice equalent is “Dreams of an absolution”
- Hero’s favorite foods are milk and honey (and whatever contains such)
